Pros and Cons of Using Depo-Provera: A Contraceptive

There are many good and bad qualities about the Depo -Provera shot. The good qualities are that you only have to take it every three months. It also slows down, or stops your periods. It also is 99.7% effective to prevent pregnancy.
The negative qualities about it are the fact that you can gain five to ten pounds every shot. You also get constant headaches, dizziness, and fatigue. It also can make you inferitle. It may decrease the amount of bone minerals stored, and it increases the risk of you getting osteoporosis. There are many reports of hair loss, nervousness, yeast infections, and suicidal thoughts.
This is given to you in the arm or rear after your menstrual period. It keeps your ovaries in a "resting" state, so that your eggs are not released. Therefore, with no eggs there is nothing to fertilize, and pregnancy can't happen.
During your monthly cycle, the lining of the uterus builds up in "preparation” for a possible pregnancy. But when the egg goes unfertilized the uterus sheds the extra lining which is your period. But when you use the depo shot there's less build up in the uterus overtime. Therefore, you have no period .Another disadvantage of the depo is that it doesn't protect you from diseases.
So you now you know the good and bad qualities about the shot. If you are considering the shot you might want to make sure that you want this, and consider the risk of it.

Good Nutrition Prevents Disease

Although some of America’s most serious health problems such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and high blood pressure are genetically inherited, one’s nutritional habits, and exercise play a big role in whether or not one develops these diseases. For example, if we don’t eat the right food, and if we overeat we become obese. Obesity means that we have an unhealthy amount of body fat, but we can have too much fat, and this can cause us to become a diabetic.
They are two kinds of diabetics type one and type two. Blood glucose is the main sugar found in the blood and the body’s main source of energy. If you are a diabetic your blood glucose can go high. If you eat too much of the wrong kinds of food, you can get sick. If you don’t eat properly, you can get hypoglycemia. This is when your blood sugar level gets real low. You may get weak or dizzy, or have more sweating then usual. Sudden changes in your heartbeat, changes in your heart beat, or get to feeling hungry, and sometimes people can go into a diabetic coma. Diabetes can cause all kinds of different diseases.
You can develop heart disease, kidney, or liver disease. This is why that nutrition, diet, and exercise are so important to our bodies. We have mentioned only a few of the health problems associated with poor nutrition and exercise habits. However, the good news is that these problems can be controlled successfully or even prevented with a healthy diet and a active life style. So please make a wise decision for not just life, but for the quality of life.

Breastfeeding vs. Bottle feeding

Many people believe that breastfeeding is better for both the mother and child. Although there are a few risks that comes with breastfeeding. Breastfeeding in my opinion is the best way to feed a baby.
Breast milk helps fight infections and delays allergies. Breastfed babies are sick less often. Breast milk is easy for babies to digest, so they have less diarrhea, constipation, and spitting up. Breast milk is made just for babies. It has just the write balance of vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients needed for a baby to grow well Breast milk is always warm and ready to feed. Breastfeeding also builds a special bond between the mother and child. These are all the reasons why breastfeeding is good for the baby.
Breastfeeding can be harmful to women. Some ways breastfeeding is harmful. If the mother is using while breastfeeding this can be extremely harmful because the baby can become addicted. Breastfed babies can also contract HIV, Hepatitis, and Herpes through breast milk if the mother may carry one of these diseases it does not necessarily mean you should not breastfeed.
These are some of the pros and cons to breastfeeding. As you can see there are many. There are several benefits to breastfeeding. These benefits clearly out weigh the disadvantages to breastfeeding.

Effects of Marijuana Use on Young People

Marijuana is a green or gray mixture of dried, shredded flowers and leaves of the hemp plant. Some of the street names/slang terms are Aunt Mary, Boom, and Chronic. It has many other names as well. Marijuana is the most often used illegal drug in this country.
The main active chemical in marijuana is THC. THC in marijuana is strongly absorbed by fatty tissues in many organs. It can also be detected by standard urine testing methods several days after a person has been smoking it.
Most marijuana users roll loose marijuana into a cigarette called a “joint”. It can also be smoked in a water pipe called a “bong”. It also appears in a cigar called a “blunt”.
There are many reasons why some children and young teens start smoking marijuana. Many people smoke because they see their brothers, sisters, friends, or other people use it. Others may think it’s cool to use marijuana because they hear songs about it and see it on TV or the movies. Some teens may feel they need marijuana and other drugs to help them escape from problems at home. People should know that you don’t have to use marijuana just because you think everybody else is doing it.
The short-term effects of marijuana are problems with memory and learning. The people who use marijuana have trouble with thinking and problem solving, loss of motor coordination, and increased heart rate. The effects are even greater when mixed with other drugs.
The long-term effect of marijuana is smoke contains some of the same cancer causing compounds as tobacco.

Tubal Pregnancy

Tubal pregnancy is also referred to, as ectopic pregnancy is the number one cause of death of women in the first trimester. Tubal pregnancy occurs when a fertilized egg is implanted outside the uterus, typically in one of the fallopian tubes. When conception takes place, the new fertilized egg will usually take four to five days to travel from the ovary to the uterus. Unfortunately, no one has yet figured how to transplant the embryo from the fallopian tube to the uterus so unfortunately the pregnancy needs to be terminated. The damage can also be caused from a tubal pregnany going unnoticed is serious and in fact can end in death. An ectopic pregnancy is usually associated with some condition that blocks the passage of the fertilized egg into the uterus.
Fallopian tube damage you’re most likely to have tubal pregnancy if you had any condition has damaged the fallopian tubes. Tubal ligation also puts you at an increased risk for tubal pregnancy. The symptoms are abdominal pain while urinating or moving your bowls pain in your shoulder. By internal bleeding which aggravate the nerves, which runs through your shoulder. Weakness or dizziness the effects last long as the ectopic pregnancy exists without treatment this condition can cause serious problems including death. Ectopic pregnancies are usually diagnosed within the first two months of pregnancy possibly before a woman realizes that she is pregnant. The symptoms may be mild or they may be severe and dangerous. They can be the same as the symptoms of other conditions that are less serious.

Blindness

Do you know how it feels to be blind? I do because I had a stroke when I was three and a half years old.
There are many types of blindness. There are color blindness, day blindness, and night blindness. There are many others and visual impairment is included. There are many people in the United States that are blind and that have visual impairment. According to the National Eye Institute, there are over one million Americans at the age of 40 and over that are blind. There are about 2.4 million that are visually impaired. These numbers are expected to double over the next 30 years. Blindness and visual impairment can be reduced with early detection and treatment.
The major eye diseases in the United States that causes blindness and vision impairment are diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, cataract, and glaucoma.
First, diabetes retinopathy is a common complication. Some of the things that can happen are blood vessels can break down, leak or become blocked, affecting and impairing vision over time. It can be treated by laser surgery and a procedure called a vitrectomy.
Age-related macular degeneration is a condition that primarily affects part of the retina responsible for sharp central vision. There are two forms of AMD. They are wet AMD and dry AMD. AMD is the common cause of legal blindness and vision impairment in older Americans. It rarely affects those people under the age of 60.
Cataracts are a clouding of the eye’s naturally clear lens. There are additional factors like smoking, diabetes, and sunlight. It is the leading cause of blindness and it affects about 20.5 million Americans age 40 and older according to the National Eye Institute. There are many medical causes of blindness. Some examples include infections of the mother, xerophthalman, and onchocerciasis.
The infections of a pregnant woman can lead to the baby having cataracts. The baby will be blind if not treated early. Xerophthalmia is a very common cause of blindness in babies. It is due to hypovetaminosis A. The onchocerciasis is called river blindness. Its cause is being bit by a black fly. There are many other types of blindness and various causes.
This paper has helped me understand the different kinds of blindness and their affects. I know how it feels to be blind. I live with it everyday. It is hard. You can’t do all the things you want to do. Everyone that can see can go out and see the world, but the ones that are blind all they see is black. The ones that are visually impaired wish they could see more than they can. I hope this helps people understand it better.
